PSALM 129

1A song of ascents.

    Much they beset me from my youth

          let Israel now say—

    2much they beset me from my youth,

          yet they did not prevail over me.

    3My back the harrowers harrowed,

          they drew a long furrow.

    4The LORD is just.

          He has slashed the bonds of the wicked.

    5May they be shamed and fall back,

          all the haters of Zion.

    6May they be like the grass on rooftops

          that the east wind withers,

    7with which no reaper fills his hand,

          no binder of sheaves his bosom,

    8and no passersby say, “The LORD’s blessing upon you!

          We bless you in the name of the LORD.”
